Payment Terms
Last updated
These terms apply when you pay a breach notice issued by Canary Organisation Limited ("Canary", "we", "us"), whether you pay in full, by instalments or under another arrangement agreed with us.
Paying your notice
- The amount due and the payment timeframe are shown on your breach notice. Payment is due within the 28-day payment period.
- You can pay online by debit card or credit card. No payment surcharges apply.
- You can pay in full or set up an instalment arrangement through the payment form. You will need your notice number and vehicle registration.
- Payments are processed through secure, encrypted payment systems.
By proceeding with payment, you confirm that you are the person named on the breach notice and that you authorise the payment.
Instalment arrangements
Offering instalment arrangements is at the sole discretion of Canary. Any failed instalment may result in this option not being offered again in the future.
When you choose an instalment arrangement, you agree that Canary may charge your nominated card at the selected frequency until the balance is paid in full.
If a payment fails, it will be automatically retried up to three times. If all retries fail, the instalment arrangement will be cancelled. It is your responsibility to contact us or set up a new instalment arrangement. If another arrangement is not established within 7 calendar days of the failed payment, the instalment arrangement will be cancelled and additional fees may apply.
Late and missed payments
If payment is not received when due, or an instalment arrangement is cancelled:
- An overdue fee of $25.00 will be added if payment is not received within the 28-day payment period.
- If the breach is still unpaid 14 days after the overdue notice is sent, the matter may be referred to debt collection and a further fee of $71.00 will be charged.
- Continued non-payment may result in a default being recorded with credit reporting agencies, which will affect your credit rating for years.
- In cases of ongoing non-payment, legal proceedings may be commenced.
Payment notifications
Canary does not guarantee that you will be notified if a payment fails. Responsibility for making payments on time rests with you, and not receiving a notification does not excuse non-payment or remove your obligations under these terms.
Appeals
If you believe your notice was issued in error, or you hold a valid mobility parking permit that was not displayed, you can submit an appeal within 28 days of receiving the notice. If your appeal is upheld, the notice is waived. If it is declined, the notice stands and these terms continue to apply.
Other payment arrangements
If you cannot pay in full or by instalments through the payment form, or you think you have been charged in error, contact us at [email protected] or 09 666 0304 and we will work with you.
Where your payment goes
Revenue from collected breach fees funds Canary’s operations and mobility parking protection. $50 from every paid breach goes to charitable spending that supports our community, such as donations to our charity partners and equipment like AEDs.
Your information
We handle the personal information you give us when paying in line with our Privacy Policy.
