When you visit this website, some information is collected automatically so the site can work, stay secure and be improved.
Information collected automatically
Our web servers, and the network that delivers the site, record standard technical details of each visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, the page that referred you, and the date and time. We use this to keep the site running, diagnose faults and protect it from misuse.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. This site keeps them to a minimum. Cookies may be set by the services we use to deliver and secure the site, by the forms and payment pages, and, where we use analytics, to tell one visit from another.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, although some features may not remember your choices.
Analytics
We may use analytics tools to understand how the website is used: which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are, what kind of device they use and how they arrived. This information is used in aggregate to improve the site, not to identify individual visitors.
Forms, payments and other services
The forms on this site for paying or appealing a breach notice, and for contacting us, are provided through a separate Canary system, and payments are handled within it. Information you enter is sent to that system to deal with your request. Card details are not stored on this website.
Videos on this site are hosted by YouTube and load from YouTube only when you press play. YouTube may then set its own cookies and collect information under its own privacy policy.
How we keep it safe
We keep your information safe by storing it in encrypted files and only allowing certain staff to access it when access is required for their role.
How long we keep it
We are required to keep particular information for seven years, at which point we securely destroy it by securely erasing all digital and hardcopy data, other information will be disposed of within two years of last access date.
